Adoption Counselor/Receptionist
Full Job Description
Do you love animals and people? We currently have a full-time front desk position available at the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia. This position is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Must excel at customer service, be proficient in computer skills and comfortable with animals. This is a position that requires attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Experience in animal welfare is preferred, but not mandatory. We are a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization seeking to add to our team.
Animal Care Attendant Front Desk Position
Adoption Counseling:
Process adoptions in computer
Review adoption paperwork with adopters- the background of the animal and the medical history.
Intakes:
Process intakes
Meet the animals when they come in, assessing whether they are friendly, healthy, and adoptable.
Enter data in computer
Create appropriate chart for medical
Retail:
Open and close retail register
Assist in placing orders for retail inventory
Stock retail inventory upon arrival and arrange for maximum eye appeal
Engrave name tags for animals
Operate retail register at The Lucky Dog Assist with semi-annual inventory of retail products
Daily Tasks:
Greet visitors when they come in
Answer phone
Check messages and respond or transfer information as needed
Escort visitors to available animals
Assist the Operations Director by completing appropriate retail reports
Ensure the front lobby and desk area are ready for customers
Intermittent Responsibilities:
Substitute for other staff as needed in dog kennels or cat areas
Dispense medications for animals as needed
Perform meet and greets with dogs for potential adopters
Report any illnesses/issues with animals
Other tasks as assigned.

Veterinary Assistant
Full Job Description
Our Veterinary Department is seeking a professional and friendly, animal lover for our position as Veterinary Assistant. You may perform an initial evaluation of an animal’s condition, clean and wrap wounds, check vital statistics, collect samples and administer medication. You may also perform basic lab work, help during patient examinations and surgical procedures by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order.
Skills/Qualifications: Must have Knowledge of Animal Behavior, Documentation Skills, Clinical Skills, Use of Medical Technologies, Attention to Detail, Patience, Verbal Communication.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization.

To provide humane care of and treatment for the cats in our shelter. To ensure and maintain the established standards in order to make the animal’s stay as comfortable and safe as possible. Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of kennels, cages and associated areas. Visually inspect animals for overall health issues and follow up with medical per prescribed protocol. Ensure and maintain the proper handling of animals throughout the shelter. Maintain professional appearance and cordial relations with associates, public and volunteers. Bathe animals as assigned. Provide accurate information and friendly service to the public. Act as lead worker for any volunteer assigned to designated area. Days will be Saturday, Sunday. Other duties as assigned.
